This map is a bit old, but shows the geography well. If you follow the end of the phrase "Caribbean Sea" due east, you should hit the island. That's how the airline pilots do it anyway.
This is the Dominican flag. It portrays the Sisserou Parrot, which is the national bird and indigenous to the island. Never did see one of those.
